Vanessa Vanderpuye is an award -winning British Actress & Model. She recently won Best Actor at the ABFF 2023 (American Black Film Festival) for her portrayal as Ashionye in the award-winning film

A Song from the Dark. Vanessa also plays a Series Regular as Arjana Pike from the second season of Sky’s hit drama Bulletproof alongside Ashley Walters.

After studying for a degree in Criminal Justice, she decided to pursue her dream of acting and began training. 

 She made her TV debut as Shakira, a Series Regular on the Sky Atlantic Comedy-Drama Venus vs Mars before going on to shoot multi-award winning comedy Web Series Dreaming Whilst Black which led to two nominations for Best Actress at the Screen Nation Digital is Media Awards.

 

Outside of acting, Vanessa is an accomplished model. Having been scouted at an early age in London, she overcame a lot of rejection from a number of high profile agencies due to her athletic body type. 

 

Determined to succeed and change the narrative, she began working as a freelance model securing work internationally for a huge variety of companies including Pantene, Schwarzkopf, Max Factor, L'Orèal, IT Cosmetics, Colgate and Adidas.
